Ink-spot lentigo

A 29-year-old man consulted for a dark-brown lesion on his right shoulder.
Dermoscopy revealed a dark-brown thickened reticular pattern with broken-up network, typically in favor of an ink-spot lentigo.




This lesion is benign and does not need an excision.

Pigmented actinic keratosis

Facial pigmented actinic keratosis (AK) is a differential diagnosis of lentigo maligna because it can have the same clinical and dermoscopic aspects: asymmetric pigmented follicles, annular-granular structures, and rhomboidal structures. Possible clues for pigmented actinic keratosis are scales and a superficial broken-up network usually not present in lentigo maligna.
In our case dermoscopy revealed annular-granular pattern. A biopsy was performed and pathology revealed a pigmented actinic keratosis.

Superficial spreading melanoma

A 61-year-old man consulted for this lesion located on his trunk (lateral left side).







Dermoscopy revealed an atypical reticular pattern, with thickened and broken net, regression structures, with blue pepper-like granules.
The lesion was removed and pathology revealed a superficial spreading melanoma (SSM) with Breslow index mesured at 0,6mm.
No metastases were detected.

Ink spot lentigo

A 32-year-old man with heavy regular sun exposure, consulted for a dark pigmented lesion of his back.
The skin was covered of many sun lentigines and freckles.


Dermoscopy showed an asymmetric thick regular pattern.






The broken up network pattern was typical of a ink spot lentigo.
